Islanders on a Different Island
Islanders on a Different Island
I grew up in Alberta on a pig farm and then later in Red Deer, but recently I have found myself surrounded by water. How does a Prairie boy get to be surrounded by water? Well, my wife Susan is an Islander and we lived on PEI from 2006 to 2008. I suppose this makes me an Islander from away. Regardless, we’re not on PEI right now; we’re living on another small island in the northeast part of the Caribbean.
We live on a tiny island called Saba in the Dutch West Indies. What exactly is tiny? 5 square miles to be exact. We’re here because Susan is attending Saba University School of Medicine (SUSOM) and I’m here in a supporting role. Life is pretty simple here, but there are some amazing advantages. For instance, I played tennis yesterday. However, there are some drawbacks as well, which I will get into in some later entries. Regardless, living on Saba has some similarities with PEI, which I will attempt to chronicle in this blog.
The aim of this blog is to write about Islanders on another island. I will largely post about our adventures in the Caribbean and some of our interests like music and films that we wish to share.
Cheers,
Ian
