Sidewalks to Nowhere and NO SIDEWALKS Where NEEDED

Have you noticed all the new sidewalk construction in areas of PEI and Charlottetown where there is hardly any sidewalk activity or HOUSES?

Ron McKinley announced recently that major renovations are in store for Riverside Drive including two new roundabouts.  I recently sent his department a letter outlining my concerns that there were no sidewalks or streetlights on Riverside Drive on the little bridge area leading up to the hospital.  He responded advising me of the major reconstruction that they intended for Riverside Drive next year but that SIDEWALK Construction was the CITY of Charlottetown's responsibility.  Yet, when I question the City, they pass the buck back to the province.

Here we are living in a City with no sidewalks on a major bypass leading to our central hospital, no guardrail on the little bridge or streetlights in that area, but they built sidewalks in Hunter River nearly 1/4 mile up a hill, that nobody uses.  There is also lack of a guardrail or sidewalk on North River Road just before the traffic lights at the Beach Grove Road intersection.  There is a sidewalk and fence on one side of the water but nothing on the other side, which is used by many people. What is there to prevent a car from going in the water in the case of a whiteout or poor visibility?  The water is right next to the path where the people walk.  I think the safety priorities are getting mixed up, or else other areas are on a list for improvements and others are neglected.
