The death occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Monday, August 16, 2010, of Bernie Doucette, husband of the late Thelma (nee MacDonald), of Charlottetown and formerly of Rustico, age 78.
Bernie is survived by his children, Wayne (Angie), Freda (Dalis) Peters, Donald (Dianne), Charles (Dianne), Art (Patsy) and Billie; grandchildren, Shawna (Kurt), Curtis and Stephanie; Donny and Ricky; Mishala and Shaylene; Aubrey, Kristen (Marshall) and Morgan; and Sabrina (Chris); and great-grandchildren, Emerson, Leah, Brooklyn and Alexander. He is also survived by his special friend, Vi Chandler; sisters, Eileen VanWinkle, Freda (Dennis) Woods, Frances Lagace; brother, Aubrey (Millie); sisters -in-law, Yvonne Doucette and Janet Fulton; brothers-in-law, Ian (Helen) MacDonald and Paul Muir; daughter-in-law, Rita; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bernie was predeceased by his parents, Wilfred and Alice Doucette; his wife, Thelma; son, Alan; sister, Leona Muir; brothers, Bud (Betty) and Ronnie; sisters-in-law, Betty MacInnis, Sheila MacDonald and Elaine (Ralph) Pineau; and brother-in-law, Tom VanWinkle.
Resting at Central Queen's Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Wednesday , August 18, 2010, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, Rustico, on Thursday, August 19, 2010, at 10:30 p.m. Interment in the church cemetery.
