GALE, Beverley "Bev" Milligan
"A flower must fall, Even though you loved it"
Thelma Beverley "Bev" Milligan Gale of Caribou, N.S., age 58, passed away in the Palliative Care Unit, Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, N.S., on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010. She was born in Tyne Valley, P.E.I. Although she lost the battle with cancer, she won the fight. With grace and courage, and a trust in the mystery of love, she overcame her personal loss while opening her heart to all who shared in her journey. Bev was the loving wife, best friend, and soul mate to her husband, Robert, a loving daughter to her mother, Jean Milligan (Raymond, deceased), Summerside, as well as a caring sister to both her brother, Fred Milligan (Debbie), Tantallon, and her sister, Carolyn Gaebel (Terry), Lethbridge, Alta. She will be sadly missed by the many family members on both sides of the family, including her many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. She had a special place in her heart for all of you. There was, for Bev, a great showing of support and prayers from her friends at the Pictou Garden Club, the Pictou Book Club, her "Red Hat" buddies, her "hooking" mates, and especially from the friendship and love of a few special people (you know who you are). Know that Bev lived and died in that love and support, and how much it meant to her. There is a saying in our family... "Pay attention, there will be a test later." Our lesson together has been one of love, and the test is in how we are going to carry it forward. At the end of her life, Bev gave back through the organ donation program. Because of the nature of her illness, her cancer was localized. Bev will be able to help as many as 70 people in their lives. That she lives on in others is a blessed gift. For her friends and family, a visitation will take place Saturday, March 6, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 27, at 11 a.m. from the Pictou United Church; a reception will follow in the church hall. Cremation has taken place and Bev's ashes will go to her family plot in Freeland, P.E.I. The summer date is yet to be determined. Sincere thanks go to Dr. Farrell, and for the nursing and care provided by the VON, and Home Support Program. Donations can be made as such, in lieu of flowers. Bev's love was, is, and always will be, a most beautiful thing.
