The death occurred peacefully, with her loving family by her side, at the Summerset Manor, Summerside, P.E.I., on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, of Marie Poirier (nee DesRoches), formerly of Miscouche, age 91 years. Marie was born on July 25, 1918, in Miscouche, P.E.I., to her late parents, Ely and Emily (nee Poirier) DesRoches. Beloved wife of William (Willie) Poirier. Loving mother of Roger (Peg) DesRoches of Charlottetown, Ruth (John) Gillis of Miscouche, Leigh (Donna) DesRoches of St. John's, Nfld., Lois (Brian) Praught of Summerside, Dianne (Peter) Whitlock of Charlottetown and Deborah (George) Morgan of Moose Jaw, Sask. Loving Nana to Rhonda, Stacey, David, Chris, Chad, Lindsay, Ryan, Mitchell, Colin, Thomas and Hannah. Great-Nana to Bennett, Reese, Colby, Aiden and Quinn. Survived by sister-in-law, Lucy DesRoches of Miscouche, sisters-in-law Mary Poirier and Theresa Perry. Besides her first husband, Martin DesRoches, Marie was predeceased by brothers, Ben, Tilman, Adrien and Anthony. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Friday, Feb. 26, then to St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Visiting hours on Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Marie's memory to St. John the Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or the Summerset Manor Alzheimer's Unit would be greatly appreciated.
