The Legion deserves to be included

When I think of the Legion some of the words that come to mind are Respect, Community and Support. I personally witness first hand a small group of volunteers who are constantly trying to find ways to fundraise so they (the Legion) can write another cheque for a well-deserved charity.
Upon hearing a few weeks ago about an up and coming "Pub Crawl" in Montague in aid of the Easter Seals Campaign with an 80s theme, some exciting feeling surfaced. You get to bust out in 80s styles and of course on the business side generate revenue. It all sounded lovely.
Excitement seemed to fizzle though when on March 3 when reading the newspaper and seeing the picture and article promoting the "Pub Crawl" I learned every drinking establishment in Montague and Lower Montague was asked to participate, but not the Legion. Huh!
What a way to unite and spread the wealth or should I say .... what a way to make someone feel left out? Events like this is just what the Legion needs to try and get people in the doors. To have a chance to show that you don't have to be a Veteran or in the Armed Forces to patronize the Legion. People are welcome any time as guests.
I am happy and proud to say I patronize the Legion and support the decisions they make and the causes they donate to, some being the Kings County Memorial Hospital, Meals in Motion, the Air Cadets and The Children's Wish Foundation, not to mention countless benefits and other charities.
I am sad to see that an organization such as the Legion gives so much to the community could be so easily forgotten.
