Opinion shows how society is deteriorating
I’m sorry to hear that Michael Arsenault of Marshfield, PEI took offence to his child receiving a Gideon Bible in his/her school.
Mr Arsenault said he has all kinds of religious books already at home in his library so I ask what’s the deal with having one more?
Mr Arsenault is upset because the school took time from its busy day to send out consent forms that would state it was, or was not okay for his child to receive a Bible.
Are consent forms sent out asking parents asking if it’s okay to show a sex movie, a movie about drugs or other material that some parents might question.
Please note Mr Arsenault, that this book is offered, not forced.
It was mentioned that Merry Christmas is not allowed to be said in some of our schools. The Lords Prayer has been taken out and now distributing Gideon Bibles is being questioned. I’m sorry Mr Arsenault, this only shows the deterioration of our society.
If the Bible is not needed in our schools then why has it always outsold any other book world wide through the ages.
Mr Arsenault said it was not his cup of tea. Then I suggest he take time to read the Book of John, then give us his opinion. He also mentioned his 10 year old is too young to understand morals or morality.
Given the chance our children know right from wrong and good from bad more than we give them credit for.
Personally I have been involved with the Gideon International for more than 30 years, distributing Bibles to schools and have always had positive responses.
If we continue to take God out of our schools and institutions we had better be prepared to build more drug and alcohol addiction centres, not to mention prisons.
Oh, by the way the Gideons are a non-profit organization, non-denominational and we have no problem distributing Bibles to prisons and cellmates.
