Earl hits the Maritimes
Earl, downgraded to a tropical storm, brought heavy rain and powerful winds as PEI felt its effects midmorning Saturday.
Although Earl has weakened in strength, its path changed course overnight Friday and has veered east, with the eye predicted to pass through eastern Kings County, from Wood Islands to Souris.
Northumberland Ferries cancelled all crossings between Wood Islands and Caribou and vehicle restrictions have been imposed on the Confederation Bridge. Many flights were cancelled at the Charlottetown Airport.
