The Montague and Area Wellness Centre was officially named the Cavendish Farms Wellness Centre during a ceremony on Friday morning at the facility.
Chairman of the fundraising committee Dr David Hambly, Mayor Richard Collins and Cavendish Farms President Robert Irving all spoke at centre ice to introduce the new name. “The team at Cavendish Farms is pleased to support this great community initiative,” Mr Irving said. “We congratulate the people of Montague and area in achieving a first class centre that will deliver a significant return to the community - in terms of health and wellness, community spirit and increased economic activity with the events this new centre will host. Cavendish Farms believes in giving back to the communities where we live and work. This sponsorship is a win-win for the community and our business. It provides a great opportunity to support our shared commitment to health and wellness and provides a long term quality supply of French fries made by a great team of 650 Islanders.”
Mayor Collins echoed Mr Irving’s sentiments.
“We’re delighted. We believe this is a tremendous vote of confidence in Montague and our future as the service centre for Kings County.”
“We’re very fortunate to have people like the Irving’s contribute to our community”, he said.
Dr Hambly said the Wellness Centre has reached their fundraising goals and thanked everyone on the fundraising committee.

The 7 million dollar, 500 seat arena opened for business in the summer and has already hosted a number of events, including the 20th annual Norsemen Memorial Tournament that is running this weekend.

Cavendish Farms = Wellness?

I don't think so.
