The Victoria Cross substation was the source of a power outage which affected over 4,500 Eastern PEI customers for nearly two hours Monday afternoon. Jim Coyle of Maritime Electric said the cause of the outage occurred when a wire connected to one of the metering tanks in the substation broke and fell, with crews arriving at the scene to make repairs. Power went out at around 3:35 pm and was restored at 5:30 pm.
