The funeral service for Edmond Arsenault of Summerside, P.E.I., beloved husband of Reta (nee Gallant) Arsenault was held on Monday, January 11, 2010, from the East Prince Funeral Home, Summerside, then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside, where the funeral mass was celebrated by Rev. Brad Sweet, co-celebrated by Father Albin Arsenault and Father Gerard McIver and assisted by Deacon Cyrus Gallant. The readings were read by Diane Richard and Elva Arsenault. The Gospel was proclaimed and the homily was delivered by Father Sweet. The prayers of the faithful were led by his grandchildren Christopher and Marrianne Pappas. Hymns sung by members of the church choir under the direction of Kay Profit were: "Prayer of St. Francis"; "Peace is Flowing Like a River"; "Gather Us Together"; "On Eagles' Wings"; and "Morning Has Broken". Organist was Geraldine Hynes. Cross bearer was Clarence Doyle; candle bearers were Ivan Pineau and Everett Durant; incense bearer was Marcel Gallant; ushers were Millie Thomarat and Vivian Gallant; and parking attendant was Patsy MacArthur. The family considered that everyone in attendance consider themselves honorary pallbearers. Pallbearers were Neil Cormier, Leon Cormier, Linus Arsenault, Charles Mountain, Christopher Pappas and Raymond Arsenault. Also in attendance were board of directors, management and staff of the East Prince Funeral Home and management and staff of Meineke Car Care Centre. Interment will take place at a later date in the church cemetery. Comrades of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 5, Summerside and joined by members of Branch No. 17, Wellington held a service of remembrance at the funeral home on Sunday evening under the direction of comrade George Olscamp. sgt.-at arms was comrade Irving Arsenault. Flag bearers were comrades Leonard Arsenault and Dolphe Mazerolle and "The Last Post" was sounded by comrade Paul Gallant. Arrangements were entrusted to the East Prince Funeral Home, Summerside.
