BATCHILDER, Stephen

The funeral mass for Stephen Batchilder was held Thursday, November 19, 2009, from St. James Roman Catholic Church in Georgetown where the funeral mass was celebrated by Father Brendon Gallant, who proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. Co-celebrant was Father Paul Batchilder. Nieces, Betty Smith and Gaelyne Smith, placed the pall. Niece Kathleen Jay lighted the paschal candle. The altar servers included Wilfred McQuillan, Robin Eagles and John Walsh Sr. The eucharistic minister was niece, Kathleen Trainor. Offertory was offered by Allister and Adam Smith. Niece, Linda Handrahan, proclaimed the first reading while his niece, Bernadette Prosper, read the second reading. Niece, Carol MacNeill Longaphie led the assembly in the prayers of intercession. The choir, under the direction of niece Claudia Batchilder and organist Kevin Gotell, sang the following hymns: Entrance, Mine Eyes Have Seen The Glory; psalm, I Will Follow; offertory, Oh What Can My Jesus Do More; communion, Come To The Water; incensing, Go To You God and Song Of The Angels; recessional, Star Of The Sea. Nieces, Kathleen Trainor, Mary Trainor and Stella Daly, sang On This Day O Beautiful Mother as a meditation hymn. Honorary pallbearers were all of his family. Pallbearers included his nephews, Ron Smith, Paul Jay, Kevin Batchilder, Frank Power, Allison MacDonald; and friend, John Oickle. Interment took place in St. James Roman Catholic Cemetery. The funeral was under the direction of North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
