Bernard, Edwin J. Peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at the age of 66. Beloved wife of Mabel (nee Aylward) Bernard, Born on March 15, 1943. Edwin was the son of the late Boniface and Evelyn (nee Doucette) Bernard. Lovely remembered by his daughter, Kelly (Doug) Wilson of Uxbridge. He was predeceased by a son, Wayne, in 2005. Cherished grandpa to Jessy-Lee, Cody, Ashley and Jamilynn. Dear brother to Ronald (Connie) Bernard of Scarborough, Theresa (Clarence) Haywood of Kildare Capes, P.E.I. and predeceased by a brother, Oswald Bernard of Tignish, P.E.I., son-in-law to the late Rita (nee Gaudet) and Alton Aylward and brother-in-law to Lorne (Amelia) Aylward of Tornoto, Gerald (Sylvia) Aylward of Alberton, P.E.I., Silva (Bill) Norman of Toronto, Eleanor Cummings (Raymond) of Toronto, Alvin (Edna) Aylward of St. Catherines and the (late Kevin) Alyward. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews. Thank you to the kind and compassionate nurses at the Palliative Care Unit who made his last days comfortable. We want to thank Evelyn Whiteside for the loving care and support she gave Edwin the last year as his nurse. A Celebration of Edwin's life will be held at Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens 21 Garrard Rd, Whitby, Ont., at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009.
