DALTON, Charles Emmett

The funeral mass for Emmett Dalton was celebrated Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, from Hillsboro Funeral Home to St. Patrick's Church, Fort Augustus, with Fr. George Gilliland as chief celebrant, proclaiming the Gospel and delivering the homily. The pall was placed by his daughter, Charlene Duffy, and son-in-law, Fred Duffy. Brendon Campbell proclaimed the first reading and granddaughters, Justina and Stephanie Duffy, proclaimed the second reading. Intercessory prayers were led by Fr. George Gilliland. The eucharistic ministers were Theresa Laverty and Shirley McManus. The cross bearer was grandson, Ryan Duffy, and the altar servers were Gerard Duffy and Charles Duffy. St. Patrick's Parish choir provided music with organist Melissa Corrigan and soloist Anne Quinn. The hymns rendered were: Processional, Be Not Afraid; psalm, Like A Shepherd; offertory, Here I Am Lord; communion hymn, Amazing Grace; incense, Song Of The Angels; and recessional, How Great Thou Art. Pallbearers were grandson, Robert Duffy, and Joey Roach, Stephen Dalton, Reg Laverty, Gary Shea and Cecil Laverty. Representatives from Duffy's Service Centre, Vernon River CWL, Sisters of St. Martha, Sisters of Notre Dame, Shea's Dozing, Allan Trainor Electric and PE Architectural Millworks were in attendance. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Fr. George Gilliland conducting the graveside prayers. Soloist, Anne Quinn, sang Seven Spanish Angels at the graveside. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hillsboro Funeral Home.
