DOUCETTE, Ruth Elizabeth
The funeral mass for Ruth E. Doucette of Charlottetown was held Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, from the Charlottetown Funeral Home to St. Dunstan's Basilica where the funeral mass was celebrated by Reverend Danny Wilson, who also delivered the homily. The first reading was proclaimed by grandnephew, Danny Gauthier, and her cousin, Carrie MacNabb, proclaimed the second reading. Karla Willdey offered the prayers of intercession. The funeral mass was sung by the parish choir under the direction of organist Elmer Power. During the funeral mass, the choir sang the processional hymn, Safe In The Arms Of Jesus, and the recessional hymn, When I Survey The Wondrous Cross. Soloist, Gaye Hood, sang the communion hymn, I Know Who Holds Tomorrow. Pallbearers were grandsons, Chris Wooldridge, David Rupert, Aubrey MacDonald and Jim Cullen; nephew, Randy Roberts; and grandson-in-law, Dan Saucier. Honorary pallbearers were Roy MacNabb, Victor Clow, Ronnie MacDougall, Lloyd Larter, Johnny Gibbs and Earl MacKinnon. Among those attending the funeral liturgy were Sisters of the Congregation of Saint Martha, Deputy Mayor Stu MacFadyen, staff of Murphy's Pharmacies, Beach Grove Home and Charlottetown Recreation Department. The interment will take place later in the Roman Catholic Cemetery.
