The largely attended funeral for Burton George Ellis of Tyne Valley, beloved husband of Erma (nee Grigg) Ellis, was held Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, in the Ferguson Tyne Valley Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. with service conducted by Rev. Pamela Reidpath. Remembrances were offered by his son, Steven Ellis. His brother, Edgar Ellis, read psalm 90. Soloist, Darcy Ellis, sang Amazing Grace. The choir, under the direction of organist Norma Ramsay, sang In The Garden, I Know Who Holds Tomorrow and Till The Storm Passes By. Everyone in attendance was considered to be an honorary pallbearer. Pallbearers were sons, Steven Ellis, Scott Ellis, Shawn Ellis; sons-in-law, Michael Newcombe, William Bishop; and grandsons, Andrew Ellis, Evan Ellis and Logan Ellis. Flowerbearers were grandchildren, Kent Newcombe, Kyle Newcombe, Joellyn Ellis, Tiffany Ellis, Madison Ellis, Ashley Bishop, Nicholas Ellis, Chloe Ellis and Hollie Bishop. Attending the service were members of the Tyne Valley Fire Department, co-workers from Holland College and Paula Biggar MLA. Interment followed in the Tyne Valley United Church Cemetery.
