The funeral for Joseph Leroy (Hubba) Gallant of North Rustico was held Thursday, August 5, 2010, at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico. The presider for the mass of Christian burial was Rev. Frank Jay who proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The pall was placed on the casket by his family. The first reading, from Wisdom, was addressed by Marlene Gallant. The second reading, from Romans, was addressed by Pauline Pineau. The prayers of the faithful were led by Marlene Gallant. Cross bearer was Curtis Gallant. Altar servers were Vernon Buote, Donnie Gallant and Peter Gallant. Usher was Joe Pineau. Norman Peters and Carl Pineau assisted Father Jay as eucharistic ministers. Music was provided by the Stella Maris Choir with Janet Doiron as organist and Armand LeClair as song leader. Hymns were: Entrance, Hosea; Psalm, The Lord Is My Shepherd, with Armand LeClair as cantor; offertory, Lord, You Have Come; communion, Table of Plenty; commendation, Songs Of The Angels; and recessional, Praise The Lord, My Soul. Pallbearers were David Doiron, Johnny Doucette, Merrill Doucette, James Gallant, Carlie Pineau and Dwayne Pineau. Flowerbearers were Logan Gibbs, Terry-Lee Gibbs and Kim Hughes. Interment took place in Stella Maris Cemetery where Father Jay conducted the committal service. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Central Queen's Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
