The funeral mass for Vanessa Gallant of Charlottetown, formerly from North Rustico, was celebrated Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico, with Father Frank Jay officiating, proclaiming the Gospel and delivering the homily. The pall was placed on the casket by her family. The first reading, from Wisdom, was proclaimed by Leah Bryenton. The second reading, from Romans, was proclaimed by Vera Gallant. The prayers of the faithful were led by Sandra Gallant. Crossbearer was Curtis Gallant and the altar servers were Vernon Buote and Donnie Gallant. Incense and holy water bearer was Peter Gallant. Ida Burridge and Eleanor Gallant assisted Father Jay as eucharistic ministers. The Stella Maris church choir, with Sr. Phyllis Gallant, CND, as organist, and Armand LeClair, as song leader, provided the music. The hymns rendered were: Entrance, Be Not Afraid; Psalm, The Lord's My Shepherd, with cantor Armand LeClair; offertory, Like A Shepherd; communion, Table Of Plenty; commendation, Songs Of The Angels; and the recessional, Amazing Grace. Tracy VanderKooi, Eleanor Ferguson and sister, Melissa Halliday, delivered words of remembrance. Honorary pallbearers were family and friends who were in attendance. Pallbearers were Randy Flanagan, Trevor Gallant, David Halliday, Wayne Larter, Dale McNevin and Randy Taylor. Flowerbearers were Allison Larter, Ruth MacPhail, Amber Tawil, Darren Tawil, Rowan Halliday and Trish Gallant. Representatives of Queens County Residential Services, Tremploy Inc., West Kent School and Career Development Services were in attendance. Interment took place in Stella Maris Cemetery where Father Jay conducted the committal service. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Central Queen's Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
