The funeral for Catherine Gillis of Summerside was held on Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, from the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, to the Trinity United Church, Summerside, where service was conducted at 2 p.m. by Rev. Dr. Andrew Richardson. Scripture readings were given by Rev. Dr. Arthur Davies. Prayers of thanksgiving and intercession were given by Rev. David Hamilton. The Trinity United Church Choir led in the congregational hymns "I Am Thine, O Lord," "Nearer My God to Thee" and "How Great Thou Art". Words of remembrance were given by Beverly Gunning. Soloist James Hodge rendered "In the Garden". The recessional was "Softly and Tenderly". Organist was Christine Anderson-Gallant. Ushers were Aurele Arsenault and Dorothy Gaudet. Honorary pallbearers were Debbie Campbell, Gordon and Wilna Yeo, Danny MacDonald, Gary Leard, Anne Murphy, Arthur and Brenda Munro, Ruby Cudmore, Robert and Anna Mae Barlow, Allison and Shirley Hawbolt, Reg Gay, Luella Cotton, Shirley MacDonald and Garnett and Erma Turner. Pallbearers were Donald Matheson, Allan Campbell, Dale Gillis, Danny Campbell, Jeff Campbell and Robert Gallant. Flowerbearers were Helen Smith, Margaret Leard, Ernest Murphy and Margaret Stetson. Interment will take place later in the Springton Cemetery, Springton.
