The funeral for James H. "Jim" Grady, husband of the late Janet (Arsenault) Grady, of Summerside, was held on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, from the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, to St. Paul's Church, Summerside, where funeral mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by Rev. Brian MacDougall who delivered the homily, assisted by Deacon Cyrus J. Gallant who proclaimed the gospel and led in the prayers of the faithful. Cross bearer was Jim Arsenault. Candle bearers were Fred Cormier and Clarence Doyle. Incense bearer was Harold Murphy. The first reading was given by Deborah Wood and the second reading by Scott Grady. The processional hymn was "Here I Am Lord". Hymns were "Prayers of St. Frances" and "Like A Shepherd". Recessional hymn was "Sing a New Song". Organist was Geraldine Hynes. St. Paul's Choir was under the direction of Kay Profit. Ushers were Eleanor Doiron and Millie Thomarat. Parking attendant was Gordie Arsenault. Attending the funeral mass were members of the Summerside branch of the Royal Canadian Legion who also formed an honour guard. Honorary pallbearers were Hank Landry, Fred and Joan Hodge, Wilf and Dolly Stumph, Maggie Arsenault and William "Billy" Companion Jr. Pallbearers were Dave Jay, Ernest Arsenault, Henry Gallant, Myles Grady, Glenn Hodge and Dwane MacNeill. Flower bearers were Breanna Decoste, Deshia MacLellan, Kolby Gallant, Shelby-Lynn Grady, Stephanie Demont and Andrew Demont. Interment will take place later in St. Paul's Church Cemetery. On Monday evening, members of the Summerside Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion held a service of remembrance at the funeral home conducted by comrade Austin MacLellan. Sergeant-at-arms was comrade Irving Arsenault. Flag bearers were comrades Earl Gallant and Dolphe Mazerolle. "Last Post" and "Reveille" were sounded by comrade Paul Gallant.
