The largely attended funeral service for Jesse Reginald Harper of West Cape, cherished son of Irene (Harper) Phillips and her husband Donald Phillips, West Cape and Jason Ahearn (Linda Ellsworth), Tignish, was held on Friday, July 9, 2010 from the Ferguson Funeral Home and Chapel, O’Leary to St Simon & St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, Tignish, with funeral Mass celebrated at 2:00pm by Rev. Fr. James Willick ,who proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. Con Celebrant of the Mass was Rev. Fr. Art Pendergast. The altar servers were Jimmy Hogan, Joe DesRoches, Charlie Bernard, and George Doucette. The Pall was placed on the casket by Jesse’s cousins Juanita Chaisson and Becky Clements. The Old Testament reading was offered by Duffy Chaisson, the New Testament Reading was offered by Carrie Ann Mokler, and The Prayers of the Faithful were offered by Alyssa Fraser. The Eucharistic ministers were Rosemary Richards and Charlene Gaudet. The music was led by St. Simon & St.
Jude Church Choir, under the direction of Choir Director Vincent Doucette, accompanied by organist Antoinette Perry. The processional hymn was “Here I Am Lord”; Psalm was “In The Sight Of The Angels I Will Sing Your Praises Lord”; Offertory hymn was “Prayer Of St. Francis”; the Communion hymn was “Come To The Waters”; Post Communion Hymn “I Can Only Imagine”, sung as a trio by Amber Handrahan, Cali Chaisson, and Maxine Peny; Song of Farewell was “Songs Of The Angels ”, and the Recessional hymn was “This Day God Gives Me”.
