The funeral mass for Johnny Hegarty was celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, at St. Patrick's Church, Fort Augustus, with Fr. Gerry Tingley as chief celebrant, proclaiming the Gospel and delivering the homily. Karen MacLean proclaimed the first reading and Mary Hickey proclaimed the second reading. Intercessory prayers were by Linda Corney. Eucharistic ministers were Brenda Van Gaal and Michael Avery. Cross bearer was Marie O'Shea and altar servers were Albert Duffy and Jerry Kelly. St. Patrick's Parish choir provided music with organist, Kathleen MacDonald. Hymns rendered were: Processional, Be Not Afraid; psalm, Like A Shepherd; offertory, Here I Am Lord; communion, Amazing Grace; and the recessional, Sing With All The Saints In Glory. Urn bearers were grandniece, Whitney Bryan, and niece, Debbie Bryan. Interment will take place later in St. Patrick's Church Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hillsboro Funeral Home.
