The funeral mass for Walter Heppler was celebrated Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at St. Joachim's Church, Vernon River, with Fr. Phil Callaghan as chief celebrant, proclaiming the Gospel and delivering the homily. The pall was placed by funeral directors, Mike Murnaghan and Don Gillis. The first reading was proclaimed by Ivan Godbout and the second reading was proclaimed by Shannon Murphy. Intercessory prayers were led by Janice MacDonald. St. Joachim's choir provided music with organist, Frank Bulger, and soloist, Suzanne Campbell. The hymns redered were processional, Be Not Afraid; psalm, O Lord You Have Been Our Refuge; offertory, Here I Am Lord; communion, I will Never Forget You, incense, Song Of The Angels; and the recessional, How Great Thou Art. The cross bearer was Alex MacIsaac and the altar servers were Jim Cain, Wilbert MacKenzie and David MacDonald. Honorary pallbearers were Charles MacDonald, Kenny Murphy and Maurice Murphy. Pallbearers were Michael MacDonald, Alan MacDonald, Myke Murphy, Ray Murphy, Vernon Doherty and Gerard Doherty. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Fr. Phil Callaghan conducting the graveside prayers. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hillsboro Funeral Home.
