The funeral for Stirling Howatt, beloved husband of Betty Howatt, of New Glasgow, was held Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, in Central Queen's Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow. Reverend Barb Wagner conducted the service. The organist was Nancy Rackham with the Central Queens United Church choir leading the singing. Congregational hymns were Where We'll Never Grow Old and We Are Going Down The Valley. Carolyn Bertram rendered a solo, One Day At A Time. Lionel Doiron, accompanied by Shirley Doiron, sang Amazing Grace. Family friend, Natalie Perry, gave words of remembrance. In attendance were members of the New Glasgow Fire Department and the Stanley Bridge AA Group. Pallbearers were Garth Carew, Gordon Howatt, Terry Perry, Jamie Pound, Melbourne Smith and Gordon Toombs. Honorary pallbearers were all family and friends who were in attendance. Interment will take place later in New Glasgow Cemetery.
