JOHNSTON, Francis Bernard

The funeral for Francis Bernard Johnston was held Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at St. George's Roman Catholic Church, St. George's. The funeral mass was celebrated by Fr. Brendon Gallant. The pall was placed on the casket by sons, Aeneas, Charles and Edwin Johnston. The funeral mass was sung by Frank and Emma McQuaid. Passing of the bulletins was done by Kandy Johnston and Leona Fitzpatrick. The readings were proclaimed by Chris MacDonald and Shelley Acorn. Prayers of intercession were offered by Betty Campbell. The lighting of the paschal candle was done by daughters, Marie Molyneaux, Frances MacDonald and Sheila Johnston. The gift bearers were daughters, Janette Brousseau, Bev Acorn and Marlene Victor. Lay distributor was John Victor. The entrance hymn was Peace Prayer; psalm, The Lord Is My Shepherd; offertory hymn, Come With Me Into The Fields; communion hymn, How Can I Keep From Singing; and the song of farewell was Songs Of The Angels. During communion, Garth Gillis sang Where The Roses Never Fade. The recessional music was played by violinist, Francis MacCormack. Altar servers were Peter Campbell, Paul Morrison and Noreen MacPherson. Pallbearers were nephews Cletus Ronaghan, Bennett MacDonald, Kenny Johnston, Gordie Johnston, Blair Johnston and Joey Johnston. Flowerbearers were grandchildren Stephen and Nadine Brousseau, Lindsey, Elaine and Shelley Acorn, Heather and Robert Molyneaux, Nicole and Johann Victor and Matthew and Liam MacDonald. Honorary pallbearers were Gerald Campbell, Martin MacLeod, JD Fitzpatrick, Johnny Christian, Glen Llewellyn Roy Forsyth, Elaine Campbell, Charles Somers and James MacDonald. Among those attending the funeral liturgy was staff of Service Canada, Montague and staff of Public Health, Montague and of Genzyme Diagnostics PEI Inc. The committal service took place in the St. George's Parish Cemetery, St. George's.
