The funeral for Elwin Jackson MacDonald was held Saturday, December 19, 2009, at 11 a.m. at St. Columba Roman Catholic Church. The funeral mass was celebrated by Rev. Beth W. Johnston and Fr. Doug MacDonald, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. Bernadette MacDonald gave the first reading and Stacey Cheverie gave the second reading. Wendy MacDonald gave a remembrance reading. Honorary pallbearers were Mary and Raymond Nicholson, Marjorie Atkins, James Arbing, Valery O'Connor, Terri MacDonald, Joseph Cairns, Cecil MacLaughlin, Arthur Baker, Merrill and Freda Garrett, Charles Blaisdell, John Gunn, Sterling Gunn, Eric LaPierre and Lois Conohan. Pallbearers were Roger Ford, Wayne Dennis, Douglas MacDonald, Craig Chapman, James Collicutt and Harold Axworthy. Flowerbearers were Carman Veld, Jason MacDonald, Brett MacDonald, Stephen MacDonald, Boyd MacDonald and Bradley MacDonald. The church choir under the direction of Clair Gallant provided music. Hymns were: Come To The Water, Rock Of Ages and The Old Rugged Cross. Interment was made in the St. Columba Roman Catholic Cemetery with the committal service conducted by Rev. Beth W. Johnston.
