The funeral service for Ferne Alma MacDonald took place Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, from the Southern King's and Queen's Funeral Home, Murray River, to St. James Church, Georgetown. The mass was celebrated by Fr. Brendon (Bud) Gallant. Florence MacDonald and Alice Butler placed the pall. Jack MacDonald lit the paschal candle. Florence MacDonald proclaimed the readings. Claudia Batchilder led the prayers of the faithful. The Folk Choir, under the direction of Claudia Batchilder with Brenda Richard on guitar, sang the hymns, In The Garden, One Day At A Time, and There Is A River. Song of farewell was Songs Of The Angels and the recessional was Lord Of The Dance. Pallbearers were Stewart Burke, Michel Steele, Ronnie Weeks, Lorne MacDonald, Barry MacDonald and Leonard MacDonald. Flowerbearers were Barbara Penny, Betty Gormley and Crystal MacDonald. Honorary pallbearers were all of those present. Attending in a group were members of the staff of Montague Regional High School. The interment will take place at a later date. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Southern King's and Queen's Funeral Home, Murray River.
