The funeral for Kenny Cyril MacDonald was held Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Church. The funeral mass was celebrated by Fr. Doug MacDonald, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. Debra MacDonald did the first reading and Lori MacKinnon did the second reading. Patty Mooney led the prayers of the faithful. Everyone in the congregation was considered honorary pallbearers. Dedication of the cross was done by Dylan MacDonald. The daily reflection was given by Bob Lyons. Pallbearers were Wayne MacIntyre, Blair Donovan, Bradley Heartz, Charlie McInnis, Kenny MacAuley and John A. MacDonald. Flowerbearers were Dylan MacDonald, Alex MacDonald, Stacey MacDonald and Josh MacDonald. Colin MacEachern and Colby Mooney distributed the bulletins. The church choir, under the direction of organist Bill Matthews provided music. Hymns were: Entrance, Here I Am Lord; offertory, How Great Thou Art; communion, Amazing Grace; and recessional, a fiddle selection played by Peter, Kenny and Lemmie Chaisson. Soloist was Susan Campbell. Groups in attendance were staffs of the City of Summerside and Souris Regional High School. Interment was made in the St. Mary's Cemetery with the committal service conducted by Fr. Doug MacDonald.
