The private funeral service for Wilfred E. MacDonald was held Thursday, December 3, 2009, from Ferguson's Montague Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Keith Gale conducted the service. During the service, Kathy Crane, daughter of the deceased, sang Amazing Grace. Rob Wilby accompanied her on guitar. Rob Wilby sang Long Dark Veil. His daughter, Elaine Grundy, and his son-in-law, David Grundy, gave words of remembrance. His daughter, Valerie MacNeill, read words on behalf of her mother, Nellie MacDonald. A scripture reading was done by Sandra MacNeill. Pallbearers were son, Myles MacDonald; and grandchildren, Gerald MacNeill, Luke MacDonald, Mellissa Grundy, Gina Crane and Chrissy Crane. The committal took place in the Belfast Cemetery. Before and after the committal, piper Doug Stewart played a selection of pieces.
