MACDONALD, William Vincent (Bill)

The funeral for William V. (Bill) MacDonald of Charlottetown was held Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, from the Hennessey Funeral Home to St. Dunstan's Basilica where the funeral mass was celebrated by Reverend Danny Wilson. The lessons were proclaimed by Paddy Murphy, who also offered the prayers of intercession. The funeral mass was sung by the parish funeral choir under the direction of organist Elmer Power. During the funeral mass, the choir sang the processional hymn, Here I Am Lord, and the recessional hymn, Be Not Afraid. The communion hymn, Ave Maria, was sung by soloist Flora Anne Whitty. Pallbearers were Arnold Moore, Ralph Dunn, Garth McCarville, Cedric Richards, Brendon Duffy and Bill Coady. Among those attending the funeral liturgy were Sisters of the Congregation of Saint Martha, members of the Blue Army and Legion of Mary, and retired employees of the Province of Prince Edward Island Lab Medicine. On the evening of Jan. 18 members of the Blue Army gathered at the funeral home to hold a prayer service for their late brother. The service was under the direction of Father Wilson. The interment will take place at a later date in the family plot at the Roman Catholic Cemetery.
