The funeral service for Velda Joyce MacKinnon (Gillis) was held Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, from Ferguson's Montague Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Roger MacPhee conducted the service. A scripture reading was done by granddaughter, Ambyr Gillis. Words of remembrance were given by daughter, Joanne Peardon. During the service, Evelyn MacMaster Trainor and Howard MacMaster sang Cabin In The Hills and A Home In Heaven. For the recessional hymn they sang Wind In The Willow. Pallbearers were Stephen Kilbride, Boyd MacMaster, Brenton MacKinnon, Stuart MacMaster, Marc MacKinnon and Boyd Rilley. Flowerbearers were Tracey MacNeill, Kim Heffernan, Desiree Simmons, Elaine MacPherson, Jessie MacKinnon, Anne Pater and Ambyr Gillis. Among those attending the service was staff of the Garden Home. The interment took place in the Wood Islands Cemetery.
