MCRAE, Harold James

The funeral for the late Harold James McRae, beloved husband of Carmella (nee Arsenault) McRae, of Kildare Cape, was held on Monday, December 7, 2009 from the Rooney Funeral Home Alberton to St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, where funeral mass of concelebration was celebrated at 2 p.m. by his nephew Rev. Ralph McRae, who proclaimed the holy Gospel and delivered the homily. The co-celebrants were Rev. Eddie Cormier and Rev. James Willick. The prayers of final commendation and farewell were said by Rev. James Willick. The first reading was addressed by granddaughter Danielle McRae. The second reading was addressed by son Hal McRae. The prayers of the faithful were invited by son Paul McRae.The euchristic minister was Rose Marie Brennan. The crossbearer was George Doucette and the candlebearers were Joseph DesRoches and Charles Bernard. The alterserver was James Hogan. The choir was under the direction of Antoinette Perry and the organist was Diane Handrahan. The cantor was Vincent Doucette. The processioanl hymn was "Be Not Afraid". The psalm was "The Lord's My Shepherd". The offertory hymn was "The Prayer of St. Francis". During holy communion soloist Antoinette rendered Schubert's "Ave Maria". Following communion Mary Perry rendered "Worthy is the Lamb". A violin selection, "Amazing Grace", was played by Dennis Pitre accompanied on guitar by Vincent Doucette. The song of farewell was "Songs of the Angels". The recessional hymn was "How Great Thou Art". The active pallbearers were Jim Gardner, John McRae, Doug McRae, Gary McRae, Ken McRae, Ron McRae. The flowerbearers were grandchildren, Maggie Eldershaw, Danielle McRae, Michael McRae, Alex McRae. The honorary pallbearers were Leo Handrahan, Harry Dean, Armond Martin, James Reilly, Wilfred Arsenault, Don Olsen, James Harris, Chester Handrahan, Michael Christopher, Ivan DesRoches, Wilfred Doucette, Robert Corcoran, John Corcoran, Roger Corcoran, Wade Corcoran, John Handrahan, Eugene McInnis, Ted Gallant, Roy Peters, Ralph Perry, Elmer Perry, Cecil Maillett, Sylvere Maillett, Ivan McRae, Roy McRae, Allan McRae, Artie McRae, Francis Richard, Gerald Keough, Russell Shea, Ivan Gaudet, Gerald Hackett, Ceofred Richard, Clifford Bernard, Don Reid, Tom Akins, Bill Gill, Paul Gallant. Interment was in the church cemetery with Rev. Ralph McRae officiating.
