The funeral for Robert Francis Montgomery was held Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, at 11 a.m., at St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church. The funeral mass was celebrated by Father Doug MacDonald, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. Also present in the sanctuary was Father Gerard Chaisson. Claudette Anderson did the first reading and Debbie Fraser did the second reading. Kelly MacDonald led the prayers of the faithful. Honorary pallbearers were staffs of Agrawest Foods and Souris Hospital, Gerard and Cathy Gallant, Emberlee Gillan, Paula Lutz, Meagan Montgomery, Chad Sheehan, Bobby Weddle and Tracy Wood. Pallbearers were Daniel Chaisson, Darren Lutz, Dwayne Lutz, Cliffie-Joe MacDonald, Brody MacIntyre and Harrison Stead. Altar servers were Gerard Steele, Darrel Lesperance and Kelly Stephan. Music was provided by Mary MacDonald and Colleen McCormack. Hymns were: Entrance, a fiddle selection; offertory, Precious Lord, Take My Hand; communion, Amazing Grace; post communion, In The Arms Of An Angel; and recessional, fiddle selection. Soloists were Donna Peters and J.J. Chaisson. Souris Co-op attended as a group. Interment was made in the St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Cemetery with the committal service conducted by Fr. Doug MacDonald.
