O'BRIEN, Gerald "Bud" Franklin

The funeral service for Gerald "Bud" Franklin O'Brien of Summerside and formerly of Abram-Village, beloved husband of Theresa (nee Gallant) O'Brien was held on Friday, January 8, 2010, from the East Prince Funeral Home, Summerside, to St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche, where the funeral mass was celebrated by Rev. Albin Arsenault and assisted by Deacon Cyrus Gallant. The readings were read by Audrey Pineau and Andrea Evans. The Gospel was proclaimed by Deacon Gallant and the homily was delivered by Father Arsenault. The prayers of the faithful were led by Andrea Evans. The congregational hymns sung by members of the church choir were: "Sing With All the Saints in Glory" and "Day is Done". Organist was Bernie Gaudet. Two solos, "Go Rest High" and "Danny Boy" were played and sung by Urban Gillis. Cross bearer was Lionel DesRoches; candle bearers were Earl DesRoches and Gerry Dieser; and ushers were Leonard McNeill and Arnold Power. Interment will take place at a later date in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Bloomfield. A service of remembrance was held on Thursday evening at the funeral home by comrades of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 17, Wellington under the direction of comrade Austin Poirier; Sgt.-at-arms was comrade Gilles Painchaud and flag bearers were comrades John A. Gallant and Albert Hashie. Arrangements entrusted to the East Prince Funeral Home, Summerside.
