The Funeral for Earl Benedick Steele was held on Monday, August 23, 2010, from Ferguson’s Montague Funeral Home to St. George’s Church, St. George’s. The Funeral Mass was celebrated by Fr. Brendon Gallant. Placing of the Pall on the casket was done by the Family. Lighting of the Pascal Candle was done by Earl’s sister, Mary Lee Zink. The Readings were proclaimed by Audrey Yoston and Leona Campbell. Prayers of the Faithful were offered by sisters-in-law. Wendy Steele and Barb Steele, who were also the Gift Bearers. The Funeral Mass was sung by St. George’s Parish Choir under the direction of Frank McQuaid. The Entrance Hymn was "I Will Never Forget You", Psalm , "The Lord Is My Shepherd", and the Offertory Hymn was, "We Will Rise Again". Soloist, Claudia Batchilder sang "In The Garden" for the Communion Hymn. Song of Farewell was "Songs of the Angels". The Recessional Hymn was "Sing A New Song".
The Ushers were Kenny Campbell and Vernon Yoston.
The Altar Servers were Noreen MacPherson, Colleen MacDonald and Paul Morrison.
The Pallbearers were Peter Campbell, Joey McLellan, Kenny MacPhee, Paul Fitzpatrick, Justin Curran and Jim Robinson.
The Flower bearers were Francine MacDonald, Terri Steele, Paige Steele, Stephanie Steele and Michael Steele.
The Honorary Pallbearers were Francis MacMaster, Kenny MacPhee, Andy Fitzpatrick, James MacDonald, Johnny Steele and Lawrence Steele.
The Committal Service took place in the St. George’s Parish Cemetery, St. George’s.
