The funeral for the late James Reginald Travers, beloved husband of Helen Travers of Charlottetown, was held on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2010, from the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton, to the Gordon Memorial United Church, Alberton, where funeral service was conducted at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. Sue Paterson, who brought words of comfort to the family. The eulogy was delivered by son David Travers. The Scripture reading, from Philippians 4;4-9, was addressed by granddaughter Jill Heighway. During the service the choir rendered "Shall We Gather at the River." Congregational hymns were "Abide With Me" and "Amazing Grace." Pianist was Bonnie Brennan. Pallbearers were Rick Hardy, James Travers, Ian Travers, Ivan Hardy, Phillip Hardy and Jason Linger. Flower bearers were granddaughters Karen Scott, Stacy Linger and Annika Heighway. Interment was in the Montrose United Church Cemetery with Rev. Sue Paterson officiating.
