The funeral mass for Lillian Wood was celebrated Wednesday, August 11, 2010, from Hillsboro Funeral Home to St. Joachim's Church, Vernon River, with Fr. Phil Callaghan as chief celebrant, proclaiming the Gospel and delivering the homily. The pall was placed by daughters, Elizabeth Ann and Florence Wood. The first reading was proclaimed by granddaughter, Bobbi Jo Flynn, and the second reading was proclaimed by granddaughter, Lyndsey Gallant. Intercessory prayers were led by granddaughter, Melanie Wood. Music was provided by St. Joachim's choir with organist Frank Bulger. The hymns rendered were: Processional, The Lord Is My Shepherd; Psalm, The Lord Is Compassion And Love, offertory, I Will Never Forget You, communion, Hail Mary Gentle Woman; incense, Song Of The Angels and the recessional, Amazing Grace. Eucharistic minister was Wilbert MacKenzie. The cross bearer was Wilbert MacKenzie and the altar servers were Jim Cain, Joe Koughan and David MacDonald. Honorary pallbearers were Joe and Jim Neundorf, Ellen Neundorf, Eunice Redmond, Charlie Shea, Eileen Shea, Earl Quinn, Betty Callaghan, Mary Wilson, Mike and Betty Lou Wood, Rita McKenna, Joe and Eileen McVarish and Theresa Docherty. Pallbearers were Vince Redmond, Eddie Joe Redmond, Leo Walsh, Gene McKenna, Hubert Shea and Brady McVarish. Representatives from the CWL were in attendance. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Fr. Phil Callaghan conducting the graveside prayers. St. Joachim's CWL held an honour guard prior to and commencing the celebration of mass. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hillsboro Funeral Home.
