Busy winter for Lennox Island Judo Club
This winter has been a busy one for the Lennox Island Judo club.
Our group has gone to Montreal to train with Japaneese fighting sensation Kosei Inoue and Nicolas Gill (1st and 2nd at the 2nd last Olympics in Australia).
Then we practiced with Ontario Olympian Nicolas Tritton in Moncton. Each camp was very different as both the camp conductors have very unique styles of fighting. Inoue is fancy and focuses on techniques that are fluid while Tritton’s style is rougher and more explosive.
Our club has a large number of kids training for the Winter Games in 2011 in Halifax. This spring the cuts will be made and those making the team will have a long road ahead of them, with 4 Judo practices a week and 4-5 fitness practices a week.
Congratulations to Bobby Lewis for getting the opportunity to be the Aboriginal Coaching Apprentice with the CWG Judo Team from PEI. Now the hard work begins.
