Cst Ann-Marie O’Shaughnessy and Sgt Denis Morin of the RCMP presented, on behalf of the RCMP Foundation, a cheque in the amount of $1000.00 to Chief Brian Francis and Deana Beaton, Youth and Events Coordinator, of the Abegweit First Nation Band. Those funds will be used to cover some of the cost associated with the purchase of new basketball equipment that will benefit the community.
The RCMP Foundation was created in 1994 to support community initiatives in which local RCMP members are involved. The Members volunteer their time and energy in the community to get these projects up and running. The RCMP Foundation manages the RCMP licensing programs.
Funds raised are used to support sports teams and events, drug awareness, youth programs and self-help programs, victim services and internet safety, all for benefit of Canada’s youth at risk.
