The funeral for Wendell J. McKenna was held Wednesday, November 25, 2009, from Belvedere Funeral Home to St. Pius X Church where the mass was presided over by Fr. Keith Kennific, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. Granddaughters, Tori McKenna Hughes and Lauren MacDonald, proclaimed the readings. Claudia Arsenault led the assembly in the prayers of intercession. The organist was Karen Power. Lauren MacDonald and Keltie MacMillan sang Amazing Grace. During the mass, the church choir, under the direction of Eileen Flanagan, led the assembly in singing To You, O Lord, I Left My Soul, Something Which Is Known, Peace Is Flowing Like A River and Here I Am Lord. Keltie MacMillan sang The Prayer. Pallbearers were Todd McKenna, Greg Hughes, Troy McKenna, Rob MacDonald, Doug Beaton and Marshall McKenna-Hughes. Interment took place in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. Those attending the funeral liturgy included staff of Queen Elizabeth Hospital housekeeping department.
