A winter (not) for the ages

Why not just call it the ‘Goldilocks’ winter. Not too cold and not much snow. Just right for adults who don’t want to get repetitive strain injury scraping frozen car windows.

Really, not much has happened this winter. Certainly we haven’t had more than a couple of howling northeasters capable of sending a chill down the stoutest of spines.

It’s been a largely non-eventful winter but few are complaining, unless they are snowplow operators whose equipment has been idled for much of the season.

In short, it’s been a winter that won’t linger long in the memory banks since nothing stands out.

Of course that can all change on a dime. There is still at least two months of potential misery to get through, but it’s now February and we’ve broken the back of a traditional winter.

What a contrast from last year when towering snow drifts and shrieking winds kept everyone indoors, unless they absolutely had to get out - for work, for recreation, or just for their sanity.

Canadians, being Canadians, always wonder when we get a prolonged spate of bracing winter when the other shoe will drop.

Hopefully it won’t drop under next winter.
