2009 Open Farm Day

A sunny day ensured Islanders turned out by the hundreds to visit the 20 farms across the province that put down the welcome mat for the 6th annual Open Farm Day September 20. At each location, visitors had a chance to ask questions and view crops or livestock up close. At Kool Breeze Farms in Summerside, there was a carnival atmosphere with hay bale scarecrows, face painting, a live scarecrow contest and hayrides. These pictures are from Kool Breeze Farms, Pleasant Farms in Fernwood (an operation with free range pigs, beef cattle and pastured dairy cattle); the Rol-Land farms mushroom plant in Freetown and the Spring Willow Farms organic farm in Springfield.
