On July 31th 2010 at approximately 11:30pm West Prince RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision on Route 12 in Kildare. A 2002 Yellow Dodge Viper had exited the road and rolled over. Both occupants were ejected. Island EMS attended and transported both occupants to Western Hospital. Due to the severity of their injuries both subjects were later transported to the Prince County Hospital. James Getson of Kildare Capes succumbed to his injuries. The other occupant was treated and then flown to Queen Elizabeth II Hospital by Life Flight in Halifax for further treatment.
Alberton Fire Department also attended and assisted with both the injured and traffic control.
The incident was under investigation by the RCMP, including members of the Collision Reconstruction Team. It does appear that speed was a factor, and that neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt.
