Drivers are failing to stop for school buses in Western Prince County

Thu, 01/26/2012 - 16:20

In the past two days, members of the RCMP West Prince Detachment have responded to two separate complaints of a vehicle failing to stop for a school bus that activated their red flashing lights.  Charges under the Highway Traffic Act have been laid in both instances.

The public is reminded of the seriousness of these violations which carry a minimum fine of $1,000.00 and a maximum fine of $5,000.00.

Motor vehicle operators are being reminded to be more attentive to their driving, particularly when school buses are on the road.

The consequences of not stopping your vehicle for a school bus with the red flashing lights engaged could easily lead to the death of a child and serious criminal charges against the driver.
