A recount, completed shortly after 2 pm Thursday, Nov. 12, confirmed Michael Murphy’s narrow win in Alberton's mayoral race.

Mr Murphy will be sworn in as the town’s mayor on Monday, Nov. 16.

The recount was requested by challenger Natasha Gilks, who finished two votes behind Mr Murphy. Ms Gilks polled 220 votes to Mr Murphy’s 222.

Justice Jeff Lantz pesided over the recount, held at the Summerside Courthouse. Ms Gilks and Mr Murphy attended the recount.

There was no change in the final vote.
