A new taxi service for the West Prince area and is set to launch March 14. “We can really help people in (these) communities,” said business owner Terry Adams.
The new service will be based in the Town of Alberton. Several years ago another business offered a similar service, but closed shortly afterwards, leaving many residents in West Prince, once again, without transportation.
One of the challenges faced by the new taxi company will be dealing with the large geographical size of the area to be served.
Mr Adams said the taxi service will be operated on a zone billing system, not on a per kilometre basis.
Coleman resident Mike DesRoches will be the first driver to break in the white Eclipse Dodge Caravan.
“I am fully confident Mike will do an outstanding job,” said Mr Adams.
Mr DesRoches has driven taxis for seven years in Summerside and looks forward to his new job.
“I love talking to people,” said Mr DesRoches.
The taxi service will be running on regular hours, which will be announced at a later time.
“We will also be accepting off-hour pre-bookings,” said Mr Adams, stressing he is striving to make the service as convenient for customers as possible.
Mr Adams has 20 years of experience in the transportation field, including limousine services.
