It’s that time of the year again when Prince County residents are asked to dig a little deeper into their wallets and cupboards to help those in need. The 16th Annual Postal Employees Salvation Army Food Drive in support of the Prince County food bank is underway. The food drive runs the week of Sept 27 to Oct 2. Alberton Postmaster Nora Buote, above, says postal workers will pick up non-perishable food items at rural mailboxes along their route. There are an estimated 400 mailboxes in the Alberton exchange. Donors are also encouraged to drop off foodstuffs at post offices throughout Prince County during the week, including the Alberton Post Office on Main Street. Organizers are hoping to collect at least $20,000 worth of foodstuffs.
